Fresh – Going To Brighton

Going To Brighton is the second single to be lifted from the forthcoming album Withdraw by London’s Fresh. It’s a pleasing track and easily remembered because of the earworms it contains. Singer Kathryn’s voice is sharp and strong which suitably matches the band’s pop-punk sound. Fresh? Pretty confident more like. Withdraw is out in June on Specialist Subject Records but for now grab this damn fine single! Facebook Continue reading Fresh – Going To Brighton

All Girls Arson Club – Untitled

Untitled is taken from the forthcoming Dark Fruits EP that will be released in April via Delicious Clam Records. It’s a mixture of punk, pop and riot grrrl resulting in a raw sounding but powerful song. Excellent drums and shouty vocals too. If this is “just” the opening track the rest of the EP must be something else! The Dark Fruits EP will be available on 7″ vinyl and digital formats. You can pre-order from the label. Charm – U Don’t Talk b/w Lie To Me

I have a large number of 7″ single in my collection that date from the new wave/power pop era from the late 1970’s to the early 1980’s. Why do I mention that? Well it’s because the new two tracks from Ontario based Charm would not sound out of place if played alongside any of those records. Powerful fast paced, guitar laden and female fronted power pop with erm, plenty of charm! Continue reading Charm – U Don’t Talk b/w Lie To Me

No Fucks – Estrellas

The excellent “band with a name you should never google at work” No Fucks return with a new single. It’s the first to be lifted from their forthcoming debut album and is backed with a non album track Sleepaway Camp. Both are fine examples of the punkpop that endeared me to them in the first place. The album will be out next month but until then pick up the single via Discos De Kirlian. Facebook Continue reading No Fucks – Estrellas

Klackers – Klackers

Well this is an enjoyable romp by Canadian band Klackers on their self titled debut. There are nine songs here which also includes covers of tracks by The Adicts and Bratmobile. Musically it’s garage rock with punk influences – think early Detroit Cobras with original material – whilst the vocals are a mix of shouty garage and tinged with the blues. The whole EP (album?) is loud, brassy, sarky, angry or fun but most important of all it’s a blast. Highlights are Womb Buddy (especially the young child singing along at the end), Ride or Die and closer No Means … Continue reading Klackers – Klackers
