One of Those Catch Up Posts

It’s been a busy few days at work and I have been dipping in and out of a number of releases. So the first post of the weekend is a rip through whats been happening and what delights for your ears may be on offer. Regular visitors to this blog may note that I am not much of an album fan – 45’s have always … Continue reading One of Those Catch Up Posts

Bootchy Temple – Nowhere Else

French band Bootchy Temple follow up their 2018 album Glimpses with a new album titled In Consummated Bloom. It is a joint release between Howlin’ Banana Records and Safe in The Rain, seeing the light of day on November 27th 2020. It will feature 12 tracks and both labels have released Nowhere Else as a precursor to the album. Its another example of the psychedelic-tinged … Continue reading Bootchy Temple – Nowhere Else

Here’s The Thing…………………..

There was a raft of releases towards the end of last week. So much so that I thought another Bandcamp Friday was upon us judging by the number of emails in my inbox. So rather than write a post for each (I did say I wasn’t going to review anymore didn’t I haha) I thought I would create a small playlist. Bandcamp does not have … Continue reading Here’s The Thing…………………..

The Sunday Session

The sun has gone in and it’s p*ssing it down in London Town. Time to get stuck into more tunes resting on top of my digital back pile. Fowl Science hail from Toronto and, judging by the lack of anything else listed, The Flowering Eye is their debut release. The song is a catchy mix of shoegaze, alt-rock and post-punk. The synths give the song … Continue reading The Sunday Session

Something For The Weekend? Three New Albums

A belated pack of three this weekend highlighting three new album releases. Moscow based Neonic Sundrive have just released their debut album. Titled Lies Paradise it features 10 tracks including the two recent lead singles Taste Your Lips and Collapsed Stars. The band’s sound is a mix of shoegaze and psychedelic rock with the odd hint of garage throughout as evidenced on the excellent Can … Continue reading Something For The Weekend? Three New Albums

Dummy – Dummy EP

Dummy, the band led by ex Wildhoney member Joe Trainor, have released their self titled debut EP. It’s a great blend of styles featuring noise pop, shoegaze, fuzzy guitars, drone and ambient not to mention some psychedelic pop. Lead track Angel’s Gear has that in abundance, wowing me back in January and I have been waiting for this EP ever since! The kosmische influenced Avant-Garde Gas … Continue reading Dummy – Dummy EP

The Black Heart Death Cult – Sonic Dhoom

Sonic Dhoom is the first new material we have heard from Melbourne’s The Black Heart Death Cult since their debut album early last year. It’s fine piece of Asian inspired psychedelic done featuring some wonderful sitar work. I am pretty sure it’s a nod to Pete Kember. Flip side It’s Getting Heavy flirts with religion, just as Mr Kember’s band once did, as the Neo-psychedelia … Continue reading The Black Heart Death Cult – Sonic Dhoom

Weekend Round Up #2

I am writing this one later than expected and as I listen, being a nice varied mix on this blustery Sunday Night. Australian indiepop legends Even As We Speak will be releasing a new album on Shelflife Records and Discos De Kirlian in June. Forgiving is the first single to be lifted from said album and it is, as you would expect from the band, … Continue reading Weekend Round Up #2
