TV Crime – Man In The Pub

Nottingham glam punks TV Crime release their debut long player Metal Town in September. It includes their previous singles including the brilliant debut Hooligans. Man In The Pub is the first new song to be previewed and it’s packed to the rafters with punk attitude and pub rock riffs. Play loud and party like it’s 1977. Metal Town is available on vinyl from Berlin’s Alien Snatch! or digitally from the band. Continue reading TV Crime – Man In The Pub

September Round Up #3

Something Else – Don’t Want It Jangling guitar pop with post-punk overtones with a bit of pub-rock thrown in too. They have since released their debut album entitled An Entire Album About My Ex-Girlfriend which has been on heavy rotation recently. Facebook Theatre Royal – All Fall Forward/Better Say Goodbye Powerful guitar driven pop from Rochester, Kent linking the Medway sound and psychedelic pop of the 1960’s. August Round Up #3

Some Gorgeous Accident – Heaven Sent Heaven Sent certainly isn’t the sound of a band heading towards it’s final destination as their Facebook page indicates but it looks like it’s the end of the road for a band who have been around in one guise or another since 2006/07. These songs are a collection of songs that were “lying about”. This Day and the title track are dreamy and blissful. Available via Melotron Recordings. Facebook Tape Waves – Distant Light More laid back dreamy pop goodness from Tape Waves and the follow up to 2016’s Here To Fade. Whilst it … Continue reading August Round Up #3

Fashionism – Come On My Baby

One for the stat fans. Come On My Baby by Canadian punk rockers Fashionism is my 1000th purchase on Bandcamp. Both sides of this excellent 7″ are bouncy, catchy with a distinctive 1970’s punk/pub rock meets glam sound. I am not sure why I am thinking of Canvey Island whilst I listen to this. Oh well…… Available on 7″ and digital formats from Drunken Sailor Records. Facebook Continue reading Fashionism – Come On My Baby

Ending 2017 #5

No Vacation – Intermission Dreamy, laid-back music from Californian’s No Vacation. It’s easy to drift off and daydream to these tracks especially on opener Yam Yam which sets the tone for the EP. If indiepop clubs had chill out rooms this could well be the soundtrack. Available on vinyl, cassette and digital formats from here. Facebook Poppel – Hit It Staying with the dreamy vibe Hit It is the debut album from Belgian jangle poppers Poppel. These songs are short, sweet and very jangly with only one passing the 3 minute mark – by a second! Pleasure is my pick … Continue reading Ending 2017 #5

TV Crime – Hooligans

This one from Nottingham’s TV Crime has been on repeat for a couple of weeks now. Hooligans is one hell a stomper of a tune that has it’s roots deep down in punk, pub rock and power pop alongside it’s terrace chants. If it doesn’t make you pogo, mosh or whatever else you do then there really is no hope. Most excellent. Hooligans is out now on 7″ vinyl or digitally via Static Shock Records.
