Danzas – Siaran Langsung

I have not heard of the Indonesian band Danzas before. Maybe it is because they take their musical cues from a decade before most of their peers, although given that I could not find anything else about them, Siaran Langsung must be their debut release. Inspired by early Krautock, psychedelia and drone, the band deliver a nine-minute epic that either fuzzes you out or makes you want to dance. Or a bit of both to be fair. If The Stone Roses were more influenced by Can, Neu! or Faust, rather than Sly and The Family Stone, they may have well sounded like this. Or consider it a drone-ish Weekender rather than Flowered Up’s indie-dance anthem.

It’s out now on dirtwaverekods.
