August Round Up #2

It’s been a bit quiet around here recently so let’s rectity that with a few tunes.

Citrus Clouds – Golden Sun

Reverb heavy indie/dream pop from Arizona and follow up to last years excellent Ultrasound LP.

Deaf – Shards

I really enjoyed Deaf’s Truancy single and Shards carries on in pretty much the same vein. It’s an enjoyable track with a strong retro feel yet sounds like something fresh. Another strong vocal performance from Luke Kavanagh whose voice has has a ring of Billy Mackenzie to it.

СТОПКРАН & Please Tokyo – Split

Interesting split cassette from two Russian bands. СТОПКРАН (Google gives me two different translations!) veer towards post punk whilst Please Tokyo seem to have muliple personalities mixing up various genres and sounds over their contributions. Out now on Pow! Pop Kids.

Various – The New Adventures Of TBTCI

This compilation from the ever impressive The Blog That Celebrates Itself Records (TBTCI) covers 22 new bands and their releases over the past year. The compilation covers genres such as alternative, dream pop, post-punk, shoegaze and experimental. Highlight for me (so far) is Crash Dept with Nothing Outside.
