Sadly The Blog That Celebrates Itself Records has called it a day after 10 years. The label was known for its cover version projects but it also provided valuable and insightful compilations of new bands and their original material such … Continue reading Various Artists – Disintegration Revisited (and Farewell to TBTCI)
And the round up is on day two…. Patrick Farrugia – Too Late Patrick Farrugia has been releasing music for a few years now and the two tracks on Too Late is the first I have heard from him. Both tracks are 1980s-inspired or in the case of Oblivion 100% inspired by New Order’s Age of Consent such are the similarities between the two. Not bad then! Sadly less said about Olympiad the better. I am left wondering if it’s actually by the same person. Very MOR. Just grab the first track. Today’s round up features compilations that may, or may not, grab your ears and attention….. Goodbye Idiots II A compilation put together to celebrate Mexican label Stupid Decisions second birthday. It features some excellent indiepop tunes from the likes of Marble Gods, Andrew Younker and Orchid Mantis amongst others. However it’s the new to me Perrogato and their track Fiesta Alienígena which is the pick of the bunch of those currently available for steaming. Pre-order it from here. Facebook Come On Feel The NoiZe, Vol. 2 – Americas´Attack The Blog That Celebrates Itself Records follow up last years Brazilian compilation … Continue reading Now That’s What I Call Compilations…..
It’s been a bit quiet around here recently so let’s rectity that with a few tunes. Citrus Clouds – Golden Sun Reverb heavy indie/dream pop from Arizona and follow up to last years excellent Ultrasound LP. Facebook Deaf – Shards I really enjoyed Deaf’s Truancy single and Shards carries on in pretty much the same vein. It’s an enjoyable track with a strong retro feel yet sounds like something fresh. Another strong vocal performance from Luke Kavanagh whose voice has has a ring of Billy Mackenzie to it. Facebook СТОПКРАН & Please Tokyo – Split Interesting split cassette from two … Continue reading August Round Up #2
The Blog That Celebrates Itself Records (TBTCI) specialises in producing compilation tribute album whether to an artist, label or even part of the world. This latest compilation is a roundup of the Asian Scene and includes both covers as well as new or recent original recordings. Musically the album contains indiepop, shoegaze and dreampop. Standout tracks come from Indonesian noise pop outfit See The Eye, Chinese Shoegazers Dear Eloise and Jaapn’s Fluffytails with a gorgeous cover of Lemon’s Chair’s SWallowtail. However Indonesian post-punk outfit Pullo win it for me Round The Bed complete with Ian Curtis style vocals. It’s a … Continue reading Compilation Week – TBTCI Dives Into Asian Sounds
