And the round up continues….
Pip Blom – Babies Are A Lie/School
Two slices of apprehensive and anxious indiepop from Dutch based Pip Blom. Both these tracks are catchy with rough sounding fuzzy guitars and heavy bass riffs. Available on 7″ and digital formats from here.
Color TV – Paroxeteens 7″
Excellent punk rock with a poppier edge than usual from Minnesota’s Colour TV. Short, sweet and loud!
Available from here.
Patsy’s Rats – Is It Alright?/Givin’ Up
Is It Alright is pop punk (or is it powerpop?) at it’s finest. Flip side Givin’ Up errs on the side of melodic alt rock. Both tracks are corkers none the less. Available on 7″ from Wink & Spit or digitally from the band.
UK Cinema – English Girls
Canadians UK Cinema deliver one of the best tracks of 2017 with English Girls. The shimmering guitars and sometimes dry vocals contribute to the atmosphere and lyrically it reminds me a bit of Lloyd C… I had better stop there as that name has got me in trouble on Twitter recently ;o)
Bedchamber – Out of Line
I have not heard of Indonesian indiepoppers Bedchamber before but I have already checked out their previous work based on this track. Like a lot of Indonesian indiepop Out of Line takes it’s influences from the 1980’s UK indie scene. Jangling guitars, deadpan male vocals with wispful female backing ones means they apply those influences to good effect here.
