Grrrl Gang – Dream Grrrl

London based label Damnably have released Dream Girl by Indonesian indiepop band, and new signings to the label, Grrrl Gang. It’s a rerecorded version of the single they released last year via Kolibri Rekords and if you think the song could not sound better you would be wrong. It’s a precursor a compilation of the band Damnably will be releasing in the future which will be the band’s first ever appearance on vinyl. Dream on! Something For The Weekend? Three From Today’s Inbox

This weeks pack of three features three bands whose latest tracks turned up in today’s very busy Bandcamp inbox…. Egoism – What Are We Doing? Australians Egoism make catchy indiepop/dreampop tunes and What Are We Doing? is no exception. Featuring addictive vocals and a hook laden melody, it’s their best song to date to these ears. Facebook Newmoon – Collide Into Me I have not heard Belgian band Newmoon, who have been around for a few years now, before. That’s a shame as Collide Into Me is a lovely, gentle dreampop song, despite the maudlin words, that tugs at ones … Continue reading Something For The Weekend? Three From Today’s Inbox

Grrrl Gang – Not Sad, Not Fulfilled

More songs mainly about love, both shared and unrequited, from Indonesian indiepoppers Grrrl Gang who do their C86 thing to great effect especially on old fave Dream Grrrl. Things get more interesting on the melancholic Night Terrors and the Riot Grrrl inspired, both lyrically and musically, Guys Don’t Read Sylvia Plath which could be their finest moment to date. Given I said that in my last post their next track should be an absolute corker! Instagram Continue reading Grrrl Gang – Not Sad, Not Fulfilled

Grrrl Gang – Dream Grrrl

Grrrl Gang follow up their appearance on the recent Strawberry Punks compilation with a new track. It’s their best yet as they throw off the shackles of their influences, expanding their sound to great effect and the addition of male vocals works a treat. Whilst it could remind you of  any number of tracks it still retains originality packed with the right amount of excitement.   Another stunning indiepop track from Indonesia. It’s a free download from Kolibri Rekords but it’s worth a few bob at least. Instagram Continue reading Grrrl Gang – Dream Grrrl

Ending 2017 #3

And the round up continues…. Pip Blom – Babies Are A Lie/School Two slices of apprehensive and anxious indiepop from Dutch based Pip Blom. Both these tracks are catchy with rough sounding fuzzy guitars and heavy bass riffs. Available on 7″ and digital formats from here. Facebook Color TV – Paroxeteens 7″ Excellent punk rock with a poppier edge than usual from Minnesota’s Colour TV. Short, sweet and loud! Available from here. Facebook Patsy’s Rats – Is It Alright?/Givin’ Up Is It Alright is pop punk (or is it powerpop?) at it’s finest. Flip side Givin’ Up errs on the … Continue reading Ending 2017 #3
