The sun has gone in and it’s p*ssing it down in London Town. Time to get stuck into more tunes resting on top of my digital back pile. Fowl Science hail from Toronto and, judging by the lack of anything else listed, The Flowering Eye is their debut release. The song is a catchy mix of shoegaze, alt-rock and post-punk. The synths give the song an emotive feel as does the repeated chorus of “they’re calling; they’re calling”. The Reds, Pinks & Purples – You Might Be Happy Someday

I vowed recently not to post each release from The Reds, Pinks & Purples because they are so frequent. However when the songs are as good as these such intentions go out of the window. You Might Be Happy Someday opens with some upbeat percussion before Glenn Donaldson’s now trademark vocals couple nicely with the thriving backing instruments. The sombre words give the game away. Sing Red Roses For Me sounds even better as the melodic guitars echo to the Field Mice and other UK indiepop influences from the past. Promise broken! Midweek Catch Up #1 – Indiepop &c

A catch up of stuff caught on the Records I Like Radar. The Radio Dept. have released a new single. Titled The Absence of Birds it’s backed with a remix of the same song. The former is a wispy indiepop song with folk-ish overtones whilst the latter mixes ambient with drone. You can get it from here. Diet Cig released a new track at the end of last month. The Reds, Pinks & Purples – I’m Sorry About Your Life

The Reds, Pinks & Purples have announced some plans for 2020. They will be releasing a 7″ EP on Swedish label I Dischi Del Barone Records. A second album, provisionally titled Uncommon Weather, will be released via Slumberland Records later this year. They have also announced full band appearances at the Madrid Popfest on 13th March and play San Francisco along side Australian band Quivers and The Umbrellas on April 11th.
