Tallies – Mother

This track came out as a single back in May but I can finally give it a plug as it’s going to be on the forthcoming debut album. Starting like a northern soul floor stomper it soon morphs into alt rock – think Belly or Throwing Muses and singer Sarah Cogan’s vocals are on a par with the singers in both those bands. Flowers – Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do

My main worry with Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do was that it would be way too over produced /polished (by Bernard Butler) but thankfully that’s not the case despite their previous fuzzy guitar sound being muted somewhat. Rachel Kenedy’s vocals are as ethereal as ever and on parts send shivers down your spine. This album deserves your attention at least once. It gets mine more.
