Wake In June – Jejune/DP/DR

Wake In June is 20 year old Italian based Enrico Pastore. These two tracks are taken from the forthcoming 1998 EP consisting of jangling guitars and laid back vocals. I can only describe them both as blissful, dreamy indiepop indiepop to erm, chill out too! It’s promising stuff and enough to make me take a listen to the two releases that were released earlier this year. EDIT: The whole EP can be previewed on Soundcloud. Black Lagoon – A Records I Like Playlist (July 2018 #1)

Well that’s the doors here shut for the next week at least, maybe two as I am off on my hollibobs. Here’s a playlist wrapping up much what I have posted about in July. As ever click on the image to start the playlist! More playlists can be found here and the Playmoss page is here. Continue reading Black Lagoon – A Records I Like Playlist (July 2018 #1)

July Round Up #2

And here is the SQL (ha ha – hint to what I do for a living) to yesterday’s post. Today’s round up concentrates the many faces of Post-Punk. Projet Marina – Rage Rage is the first single lifted from the band’s album Echos which is due for release in September. Synth pop of the highest calibre. Facebook Cult of Haze – Farewell There is a lot of quality post-punk coming out of Russia these days and this album is no exception. Harking back to the synthpop and goth pioneers of the early 1980’s Cult of Haze deliver an album that … Continue reading July Round Up #2

July Round Up #1

As I mentioned the other day it’s been a bit quiet around here due to a job change so this weekend will be two posts dedicated to catching up on what I have been listening too over the past couple of weeks. Hyperdream – Selfish Dream Excellent shoegaze from Mexico. More than a few nods towards MBV (a speeded up version of Swallow?) both soundwise and cover art. Really liking this one. Facebook Flowerbox – Flowerbox An interesting and strong debut EP covering both indiepop and shoegaze. Most of the songs are slow paced which gives you time to appreciate … Continue reading July Round Up #1

Blanco – A Place For Youthful Days

Blanco’s follow up to last Octobers Wake With Moon Tide covers both sides of the indiepop coin. Isolated City is a laid back affair packed to the rafters with gloomy lyrics whilst Paradise is more upbeat despite the foreboding the lyrics hint at. However the potential misfortune is soon forgotten with the boy/girl vocals and the guitar/synth combination that invoke memories of 1960’s psychedelic pop which will soon have you nodding along. It’s available digitally from here. Continue reading Blanco – A Place For Youthful Days

Guide His Steps – Coldwave, Darkwave, Post-Punk, Goth-Rock and Minimal Synth Vol 10

It’s been somewhat quiet around here this week as I have started a new job. So what better way to relax than a post-punk playlist mainly of the gloomy and melancholic kind. Click on the image to start the playlist! More playlists can be found here and the Playmoss page is here. Continue reading Guide His Steps – Coldwave, Darkwave, Post-Punk, Goth-Rock and Minimal Synth Vol 10

Something For The Weekend – Coldwave & Synthpop from Russia

This weeks pack of three concentrates on post-punk of the coldwave and synthpop varieties from Russia. Фирма-однодневка – Кабаки This is an excellent vintage sounding coldwave track that would have not been out of place in Belgium or France circa 1981. They also have an album available but I have yet to listen to that. VK.Com яблоня – мысли Female fronted infectious synthpop that sounds like parts of Man Machine if it was mixed Vince Clarke. Really liking this (the vocals are great) and they have plenty more on offer on their bandcamp page. That’s more to delve through – … Continue reading Something For The Weekend – Coldwave & Synthpop from Russia

Jetstream Pony – Self-Destruct Reality

Jetstream Pony release a new 5 track EP on 13th July 2018 and I am pleased to say (hear?) that my favourite track of theirs to date will be on it. Self-Destruct Reality takes me back to the mid 1980’s when the likes of The Shop Assistants and The Fizzbombs were around. I cannot wait to hear the EP in it’s entirety but until then get stuck into this excellent slice of retro indiepop. The EP is out on German label Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten. Keep an eye on the label’s discog store for order details nearer the date. Facebook Continue reading Jetstream Pony – Self-Destruct Reality
