Foundlings – Enemy

Londoners Foundlings gear up for next months debut self titled EP release with a track taken from said EP. Enemy is another faultless track that builds up slowly before jangling it’s way to it’s conclusion. It certainly bodes well for that EP. None of the bands previous tracks appear on the EP which can be pre-ordered from here. The EP will be launched at London’s Sebright Arms on 2nd March 2019. Tickets available from here. Monnone Alone – Do It Twice

Monnone Alone is Mark Monnone, once of The Lucksmiths, and friends. New single Do It Twice is the second one to be lifted from the forthcoming album Summer of the Mosquito which is due out in May this year. It’s a fuzzy jangling indiepop song that harks back to the glory days of Flying Nun and according to the blurb is an ode to second chances and graciously sabotaging life’s opportunities – just for kicks!. It’s available on 7″ via a number of labels. Check the band’s bandcamp page for your nearest label. Continue reading Monnone Alone – Do It Twice

Gars de Gouttiere – Tchou Tchou

The new effort from that Paris based Gars de Gouttiere may suggest that the band has a split personality. Petite Balade is a lovely, short indiepop song with jangling guitars and whispered vocals. However flip side Tchou Tchou Tchoin Tchoin is a full on dance track with those whispered vocals making a return.  The two distinct types of musical styles here may have some scratching their heads but personally I think it’s great that they offer two contrasting songs that, if you think about it, may not be too dissimilar after all. Fanclub – All The Same EP

Fanclub, the band that features ex members of Letting Up Despite Great Faults, have collated the three songs they released last year alongside two new ones for the All The Same EP. The EP opens with the Stranger from which the EP takes it title from. I previously covered the track here and the song sounds even stronger two months on. The other “older” tracks Leaves and Reflections mix indie and synthpop together to great effect. The guitars are more conspicuous on new song Swear which highlights the voice of singer/guitarist Leslie Crunkilton as she sings with mixed emotions. The … Continue reading Fanclub – All The Same EP

Taking it one track at a time

Rei Clone – Lavender Lavender is the third single to be lifted from the forthcoming album Greetings From Somewhere. It’s more noise from these Texan shoegazers and this track reminds me a bit of early Lush. Roll on that album. Facebook The Reds, Pinks & Purples – Dead End Days (demo) Is there any more I can add about the The Reds, Pinks & Purples in addition to what I have written about them already? I thought not so I will let the music speak for itself and to be fair it’s doing a damn fine job! Noxantes – Fingers-Crossed … Continue reading Taking it one track at a time

Chain Wallet – World I Used to Call Mine

Norwegian outfit Chain Wallet have taken a third single from their forthcoming (difficult?) second album No Ritual. World I Used to Call Mine has guitars that shine above the melodrama of the song which has it’s roots in the early 1980’s new wave/powerpop era. The track is full of energy and, despite the moodiness of the words, plenty of enthusiasm. No Ritual is due out in the middle of next month on vinyl, CD, cassette and digital formats. Pre-order it from Jansen Records. Facebook Continue reading Chain Wallet – World I Used to Call Mine

No Fucks – Estrellas

The excellent “band with a name you should never google at work” No Fucks return with a new single. It’s the first to be lifted from their forthcoming debut album and is backed with a non album track Sleepaway Camp. Both are fine examples of the punkpop that endeared me to them in the first place. The album will be out next month but until then pick up the single via Discos De Kirlian. Facebook Continue reading No Fucks – Estrellas
