Ending 2017 #4

The Autumn Sighs – Green The Green EP is the latest release from German shoegazers The Autumn Sighs who stick to the template rigidly and deliver a beautiful, haunting EP reminiscent of The Pale Saints. Shoegaze at it’s finest. The EP is out on Dreams Never End. Facebook Your Friends Polymers – v chuzhoi strane Sticking on the shoegaze/dreampop theme we next head to Russia and the latest one from Your Friends Polymers who finally follow up 2015’s Chudesa EP. Thankfully their music is much better than their name and this is one of the best EP’s in the genre … Continue reading Ending 2017 #4

Christmas Single Jingles

Some Christmas releases to catch the ear. Seafang – Happy When It Snows Actually this, like all of Seafang’s releases to date, is actually pretty good. Shoegaze (or should that be snowgaze) mixed with the sounds of C86 delivers one of the better holiday songs I have heard. They also cover The Primitives You Trashed My Christmas for good measure too. Facebook Girl Ray – (I Wish I Were Giving You a Gift) This Christmas Epic indiepop from Girl Ray. There is so much going on here you are going to have to play it a few times to take … Continue reading Christmas Single Jingles

Out of Place – A Records I Like Playlist (November #2)

Here is most probably the last playlist of the year barring a best of or two next month. Really enjoying the tracks from UK Cinema, Blacanova, Pony, Black Sea to name but a few. As per usual click on the image to start the playlist. Playmoss has made some changes so if the playlists do not work for you please leave a comment. Continue reading Out of Place – A Records I Like Playlist (November #2)

Compilation Week – Russian Tour 2

This compilation, compiled by Belka Records who are based in Moscow and Paris, features Russian speaking bands from Russia and The Ukraine. Skip pass the dreadful first track and persevere. Only Verbludes were known to me before but after listening to this a few more will be too especially the glorious post-punk sounds of Gruppa Hmuriy and Fleece Flower as well as the indiepop of Park 17. As with all compilations what one person likes another will not so delve in and I am sure there will be something that grabs your attention before long. Available on cassette or digital … Continue reading Compilation Week – Russian Tour 2

Blow City – A Records I Like Playlist (November #1)

Aside from some of the tracks I have written about recently there is some excellent music here – why would I include anything but! If you only flirt with this list make sure you check out the tracks from Sound and Fury, Matriakatet, Glass Arcades, Savak, Soda Fountain Rag and the beautiful Bloodshade by Flower Crown. If you have missed any previous playlists you can find them here. Continue reading Blow City – A Records I Like Playlist (November #1)

Briya – Lado A/Lado B

No Halloween nonsense from me today. Instead here are the first two releases (or both sides of just one?) from Argentinian band Britya. Regardless whether it’s just the one release or two all the tracks here encompass many of the ingredients that make up indiepop with twee, dream pop, noise pop and fuzzy guitar pop alongside healthy does of punk and riot grrrl. It’s on the latter, particularly Tiempo, that they shine to these ears and it’s further evidenced on the shouty Todo Me Enamora. It’s all good fun and Briya provide one of the best debut releases I have … Continue reading Briya – Lado A/Lado B

Daze In The Sun – A Records I Like Playlist (October #3)

A third and final playlist for October which should see you through the week and into November. There is so much good stuff out there now I could not possibly write about them all so these playlists are great as they encapsulate what I found on bandcamp. Hopefully there will be something you like too. Enjoy! Continue reading Daze In The Sun – A Records I Like Playlist (October #3)

Cleve – Jeda

There are tracks that when you first hear them make you jump up and down and bounce around like a buffoon. Just me then? Anyway Jeda by Cleve is one of those tracks and whilst I admit it’s not a pretty sight to watch these days it has the desired effect thanks to frantic, fuzzy indiepop on offer. Flip side Lagu Pagi is just as good albeit in a more laid back way. Amazingly they are giving it away for free on a pay what you want basis. Hand over you dosh and bounce around for joy!
