The new track from Vancouver based Palm Haze revisits David Bernstein’s 80’s-era ballad You Walk Away. Never having heard the original basis of this song I got stuck in. Musically Walk Away is fuzzy, distorted and atmospheric whilst the vocals are restful but sorrowful. As for the original. Nah. I couldn’t be bothered to find … Continue reading
Vamping – Holyoke To say that the new song from Amarillo’s Vamping is a shimmering delight is a vast understatement. Holyoke literally glows thanks to the harmonious synths and guitars coupled with a very catchy chorus and vocals. Lock-down positivity in a nutshell. Facebook Phosphene – Incandescent Plumes Incandescent Plumes is the third single to … Continue reading
This weeks pack of three features three bands that mix psychedelia with shoegaze. Star Glows – Spiderland Spiderland is taken from the band’s forthcoming album Stargaze Rock ‘n’ Roll. It’s dreamy, spacey and is one hell of a head nodding tune. The aforementioned album is out later this month in vinyl and digital formats. Pre-order … Continue reading
Another one of those posts where I cannot decide if I am lazy or whether I listen to far too much. Anyway…. Elenin – Turtleneck Fuzzy and dreamy stuff from Indonesian shoegazers Elenin. I certainly did not want this one to end thanks to the shimmering guitars and ethereal vocals. It’s always a winner for … Continue reading
Fløver is the new project from one, or both, members of Palm Haze and it should come as no surprise that it sounds pretty similar. Noisy guitars that reek of punk rock stand alongside vocals with a bit of attitude which equals a pretty decent alt-rock track. Not bad at all.
Another round up of singles and EP’s for your listening pleasure…… Blushing – The Truth / Sunshine The first single to be taken from dreampoppers Blushing’s debut album due for release early next year. The flip side Sunshine is a shimmering delight in the way Lush sounded when they first emerged many moons ago. Get … Continue reading
Ah this is good. Fuzzy and danceable with an droning sound that is surprisingly upbeat. Great vocals on this one too. If Loop made pop records they may well have sounded like this! Facebook
