Spanish label Elefant Records have announced two releases that have piqued my interest. First up is Espacio De Tiempo which is a compilation that covers the output of Linda Guilala between 2009-2019. They have had 20 releases during that time … Continue reading Two From Elefant
I intended to post a bit more last month but a long Christmas break with a very poor internet connection put paid to that so today’s post rounds up some of the outstanding releases that I wanted to mention remaining … Continue reading Seeing Off 2019
Spanish outfit and long time Records I Like faves Linda Guilala release the second in their limited edition vinyl single releases which are spread across various labels in 2019. Following up their recent single for London’s Sonic Catherdral Agosto will be released on German label Dreams Never Ends Records and consists of two previously unreleased tracks. Both tracks are darker than what we normally expect from the band, erring towards post-punk rather than indiepop but showcase the bands versatility. It’s the moody flipside Salga Bien that gets my vote reminding me of a gloomy Joy Division inspired Stereolab! Order the … Continue reading Linda Guilala – Agosto
No theme for this weeks pack of three aside from making the time to listen to all of these releases over the course of this, or any other, weekend! Wildhoney – Naive Castle Since we last heard from them Wildhoney … Continue reading Something For The Weekend?
The new single from Linda Guilala is a fierce affair where synths, drums and guitars collide whilst the vocals bring it all together. Give it a listen, watch the video and see how many of the records, most of which are an influence on the band, you own. Mucho Mejor is a digital only single. Get it from the label here. Linda Guilala and Elefant Records raid the excellent Psiconáutica album for yet another single in the shape of Abstinencia. However given that the new song Mucho Más Joven completely blows the a-side away maybe, given that this is just a digital release, it should have been selected as the single instead. Hopefully more new material will be along soon – well once the band get their numerous festival appearances out of the way! Get it digitally from here. Abstinencia Mucho Más Joven Facebook Continue reading Linda Guilala – Abstinencia
Accidente is one of the highlights from this year’s Psiconáutica long player and is packed to the rafters with fuzzy guitars and fuzzier synths. Despite being stricken with man flu I still get bopping. Accidente, like the virus I have right now, is pretty infectious stuff. Play loud! It’s only available digitally and is backed with a cover of Silvania’s Sé Girasol. Bandpage Continue reading Linda Guilala – Accidente
Phew. It was a hard choice picking just 10 songs to represent the Records I Like Top 10 Tracks for 2014 and I think I should really thinking about a move to Spain at some point given the amount of Spanish indiepop I have listened to in 2014. The just missing out pile included tracks by Lost Tapes, Earth Girls, Shackleton, Teen Runnings, Factory Floor, The Debutantes, Joanna Gruesome, My Light Shines For You, Zipper, Lightfoils, PinkshinyUltrablast, Peru, Crescendo, Hardfloor, The Hobbes Fanclub and The Popguns off the top of my head – maybe I should have done a top … Continue reading Records I Like Tracks Of The Year 2014 – 10 to 6
