Dummy – Angel’s Gear

Dummy hail from Los Angeles and Angel’s Gear is their first track. And it’s not a bad one to start with as it blends 1960’s psychedelia and pop. The vintage moog sound that runs throughout the song also gives it a Krautrock “feel” making not only one to nod your head too but also one for the dance-floor. Given the track listing on the artwork it’s safe to say a fully fledged EP will be coming along soon and based on Angel’s Gear I cannot wait to listen to some more. Special Friend – Low Tide

Low Tide is taken from the forthcoming self titled EP from Special Friend. It’s a mix of garage and indie rock which already makes it mark just as the psych influenced guitars start to make some noise. There is another track, Before, also available for streaming which merges garage and 1960’s influenced indiepop together for maximum effect. I cannot wait to give the whole EP a listen when it is released but for now these two tracks will do quite nicely for now. Special Friend will be released on Howlin’ Banana records on 10″ vinyl and digital formats at the … Continue reading Special Friend – Low Tide

eGGs – eGGs

eGGs are a Parisian indiepop four piece and this is their second release, with the same name, also on Howlin Banana Records! There are two tracks. The first A Certain Smile has more hooks than a fishing competition, mixing indie pop with psychedelia and then some. The chorus, as with the vocals throughout, is/are addictive listening. The second song, Picture Book, has a swirling organ sound with a 1960s garage pop feel. Close your eyes and you can imagine a kaleidoscope of colours to accompany the music. Er just me then! These are two excellent songs that deserved to be … Continue reading eGGs – eGGs

Anajunno – Fuegoinvierno

It’s turning into an Argentinian themed weekend! Anajunno hail from Santa Fe, Argentina and Fuegoinvierno, which translates as Winterfire, is the follow-up to 2017s self titled debut. Anajunno’s music is primarily dreampop, but they also delve into other spheres. For example Julia Knows flirts with psychedelic pop whilst the instrumental Generador de pruebas is an excellent drone inspired track which reminds me of Eat Lights Become Lights. Another instrumental track Video 2000 is relaxing in a space rock sort of way. It’s the dreampop I prefer and the “poppier” the better. Both Burn The House and Salud temporal are cases … Continue reading Anajunno – Fuegoinvierno
