Red Sleeping Beauty – California

California is the latest single to be lifted from the current Stockholm long player and appears in three forms. The single itself starts in a sedate, folkish mood before synth pop beats kick in drawing comparisons to The Pet Shop Boys.  Norwegian singer/songwriter Dylan Mondegreen then supplies this take on the longing and yearning Ikkje Gråt for Me, California. No Suits In Miami – I Hope That No One Sees Me

I Hope That No One Sees Me is the debut album from Swedish indiepop band No Suits In Miami and it’s the sort of stuff I would have died for in my hardcore (!) indiepop days. The music is vibrant whilst singer Michelle’s voice is like another instrument as it weaves in and out of the jangling guitars. It’s essential listening especially on the likes of Regnar (beautiful), Week (poppy and fuzzy) and I´ll Never Lie Again (Just To Get Close To You) which has the elements of New Order all over it. The Sweetest Touch/The Wellington – Untitled

Untitled is a split recording between two connected Indonesian bands (shared members?) The Sweetest Touch and The Wellington and both contribute two tracks each. The Sweetest Touch continue their trip down There And Back Again Lane haunted by the ghosts of Sarah Records past. A lazy comparison some might say but it’s still valid as both Answer and Bitter testify. The Blue Dress – The Perfect Moment

The Blue Dress is the solo project of Jesus Sandoval who he is not kidding when he states his influences are Sarah Records, Talulah Gosh and The Field Mice! The Perfect Moment sounds like a track given away on a flexi-disc via fanzines of yesteryear. Unlike those aforementioned pieces of plastic this track doesn’t sound warped or crackled although it captures the retro sound from the 1980s perfectly! The Colleagues – Arkadia

The last time I mentioned The Colleagues was way back in 2013. I am not sure if they have done anything since then but their soundcloud page indicates not. Anyway they are back with this slow paced jangling indiepop track which sounds remarkably similar to not only their material from six years ago but also like bands such as Po!, Fat Tulips and Strawberry Story which given their influences should come as no surprise.
