Dark Embrace Me – A Post-Punk Mix

A post-punk mix featuring some of my most listened too post-punk tracks from the past few months. It primarily covers gothic rock and coldwave but also includes some other nuggets in between. Alternative stream at Hearthis.at Fall Tracklisting: Automatic – Calling It Calling It has thumping bass dominated groove with single tone, almost spoken, vocals that herald the arrival of the unclear synth sound. New Today – Snatch Taken from the recent New Today EP. Magnified Desire – Dead Flowers Australians Magnified Desire deliver two excellent synth-pop tracks that hark back to the early 1980s. The haunted, echoing vocals are … Continue reading Dark Embrace Me – A Post-Punk Mix

Automatic – Calling It b/w Mind Your Own Business

It’s hardly a surprise that Los Angeles based Automatic have chosen to cover Delta 5’s Mind Your Own Business on the flip side of their new single Calling It. That’s because Delta 5 were one of the bands that sprang to mind when listening to their debut single Too Much Money. Taking their cues from post-punk and French/Belgian coldwave the band have updated that retro sound for a new audience to great effect. Calling It has thumping bass dominated groove with single tone, almost spoken, vocals that herald the arrival of the unclear synth sound. Just as it all comes … Continue reading Automatic – Calling It b/w Mind Your Own Business

Mannequin – Nocere

Mannequin deliver three fine coldwave tracks that should tickle the fancy of any post-punk fan. Whilst musically, they are not as dark some of the post-punk bands I have featured recently, there are still hints of darker waves amongst the melodic synths especially on the sometimes moody Them. It’s Lines however that piques my interest. Electronic beats complete with a catchy vocal performance suggest its headed straight down to the post-punk dance-floor which isn’t a bad place to be! Echoberyl – Dark Embrace Me

Taken from Echoberyl’s forthcoming debut album Apparition Dark Embrace Me mixes the classic early New Order guitar sound with coldwave to devastating effect. When, the guitars give way, the dancefloor orientated synths kick in alongside a strong vocal performance. I love it and that album will be heading my way soon for sure. Apparition is released at the end of July on SwissDarkNights. Pre-order it from here. Homepage Continue reading Echoberyl – Dark Embrace Me

TRIT95 – Guardian Angel

Guardian Angel is the follow up to last December’s Forever single. Like its predecessor it’s like listening to a forgotten coldwave gem from the 1980s on Les Disques du Crépuscule and is sadly over before it begins. However, it’s the flip side New Surroundings that needs to be heard. Imagine if you will that before the tragic death of Ian Curtis and after progressing with tracks that eventually became the b-sides of Komakino Joy Division morphed into New Order. Then, with Curtis on vocals, this could well have what they would have sounded like. Dance to the radio! Guardian Angel … Continue reading TRIT95 – Guardian Angel
