Something For The Weekend? Three Christmas Releases

This weeks pack of three covers three releases that hark (ho ho ho) to the time of year. Say Sue Me – Christmas, It’s Not a Biggie Is this the EP that sees Sue Say Me turn into a fully fledged rock n’ roll band? The hints in their previous couple of releases bear fruition here. The excellent title track blends surf and indie pop whilst it also contains elements from The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping. Too Expensive Christmas Tree is a full on surf rock instrumental whilst the other two tracks are the band’s take on the more traditional Christmas … Continue reading Something For The Weekend? More playlists can be found here and the Playmoss page is here. Continue reading Don’t Let Go Of The Light – A Records I Like Playlist (November 2018 #2)

Give, Give, Give Me More, More, More…..

I think this final post of the week finally sees me catching up with my bandcamp bookmarks, well the stuff I liked, for now. Lightfoils – Summer Nights (radio edit) An absolute belter of a shoegazing track. Dreamy and ethereal. Just the way I like ’em. I cannot really say any more so press play now! Edit: A longer 8 minute version can be found on the just released Chambers EP. Facebook Death of Heather – I Can Tell Bangkok’s Death of Heather build upon the promise of their July demos delivering a lovely polished dreampop effort that will be … Continue reading Give, Give, Give Me More, More, More…..

Now That’s What I Call Compilations…..

Today’s round up features compilations that may, or may not, grab your ears and attention….. Goodbye Idiots II A compilation put together to celebrate Mexican label Stupid Decisions second birthday. It features some excellent indiepop tunes from the likes of Marble Gods, Andrew Younker and Orchid Mantis amongst others. However it’s the new to me Perrogato and their track Fiesta Alienígena which is the pick of the bunch of those currently available for steaming. Pre-order it from here. Facebook Come On Feel The NoiZe, Vol. 2 – Americas´Attack The Blog That Celebrates Itself Records follow up last years Brazilian compilation … Continue reading Now That’s What I Call Compilations…..

Singles Going Steady……

Another round up of singles and EP’s for your listening pleasure…… Blushing – The Truth / Sunshine The first single to be taken from dreampoppers Blushing’s debut album due for release early next year. The flip side Sunshine is a shimmering delight in the way Lush sounded when they first emerged many moons ago. Get your vinyl copy of the single from here. Facebook The Hannah Barberas – No Mystery EP Another fine EP from the fans of Jessica Fletcher. It’s more consistent than the debut EP and I really like the Throwing Muses like Spellbound. The EP is currently … Continue reading Singles Going Steady……

One Track Wonders…..

Rounding up some new tracks that have been released over the past few weeks or two… The Golden Rail – Don’t Let Go Of The Light The first single taken from a yet unnamed second album due for release next year. Distinct and mature sounding indiepop from the band that features ex members of Palisades, The Rainyard, Header, Summer Suns etc. Facebook Rei Clone – Wave Somewhat noisy and very impressive shoegaze from Texan’s Rei Clone. Facebook Fanclub – Reflection More from Texas but this time a slice of twee inspired indiepop. Facebook Fawns of Love – Mournful Eyes The … Continue reading One Track Wonders…..

Elenin – Massa Masa

I noticed yet another Indonesian label on bandcamp earlier this week in the shape of Dont Fade Away Records and have been making by way through the four releases currently available including Massa Masa by Elenin. Opener Kalam has shimmering guitars and female vocals to die for whilst the title track is a nosier alt rock effort that harks back to the noughties. However it is the closing track Technyancolor that clinches it for me with it’s noisy fuzzy guitars that gives Elenin a semblance of being an Indonesian version of Welsh rockers Melys. Get it from here. Continue reading Elenin – Massa Masa
