Whitelands – Setting Sun

Written in response to the murder of George Floyd in 2020 Setting Sun, the new single from London based Whitelands, is a musically explosive affair dealing with racism and ignorance. “It’s another song of sadness from the Black diaspora,” explains singer and guitarist Etienne. “It is an unfortunate thing to write about, but as it keeps happening then songs will continue to get written.” Setting Sun is a melodic shoegaze track that does not shy away from the hard, crunching tackles regarding the issues raised in the track. Musically, as well as lyrically, it’s their finest moment to date.
