Desmond Doom – Surf-Goth EP

Desmond Doom hail from Melbourne, Australia and describe their music as “Joy Division meets The Smiths in Eastern Europe.” That’s not a bad description to be fair but I would say chuck in a bit of The Sisters of Mercy because their is something a bit Andrew Eldritch about the vocal style.

The blend of gothic post-punk and alt-rock on the The Surf-Goth EP is a good one and the highlights for me are Take Me Back, which sounds like Morrissey fronting Molchat Doma, the very indie-ish I Hope I Never See Your face Again and the Bunnymen tinged The Dissociation Song which is as perfect an EP closer as you could wish for. Enjoyable stuff!
