Lower Than Underground Vol. 1 is a compilation that will be released jointly via Greek label Old Bad Habits and the UK label Shambotic Recordings. The compilation features 22 tracks, of which are all cover versions. The former describe some of these originals as being from artists “who invented indie pop”. Hmmmm. Anyway the compilations provides bands such as The Frenchmen, Boyracer, Manhatten Love Suicides, The Jasmine Minks, Horowitz, Davey Woodward and Wimpy Milkshake covering the likes of The Primitives, Talulah Gosh, Beat Happening, Velvet Underground, Television Personalities, The Turtles and The Shirelles to name but a few.

It comes complete with the Lower than Underground fanzine. Sales of the fanzine and compilation “will used to fund the 1st Athens Pop Underground fest & convention, happening in Athens, Greece, at the end of spring (19-20 of May 2023)”.
