Recommended Releases 26/10/2022

Continuing the series of posting albums and/or EPs as and when they are released (or usually a bit after!) as a follow up to the initial new tracks/singles posts posted on this blog. Sample the release via the You Tube track then dive in to the full release.

Poster Paints – Poster Paints

(Falling Hard) “The track manages to encapsulate almost everything from the Scottish indiepop scene over the past two decades or more. Camera Obscura is the first name that springs to mind but give it a thorough listen and you can hear more of that heritage coming through.”

“Whilst not as immediately accessible as their debut single Number 1, Never Saw It Coming soon grows on you. The voice of Carla J Easton is very Harriet Wheeler like on this one.”

Poster Paints is out now via Ernest Jenning Record Co.

Ribbon Stage – Hit with The Most

Playing Possum is the first single to be lifted from said album and it’s a short fuzzy indiepop song which is guaranteed to get my ears tingling. It’s a relationship in decline song, the sort of which graced my youth more than once in the 1980s.”

Hit with The Most is out now via perennialdeath (US).

Those in the UK can get it from Rough Trade in black or very limited Violet vinyl.

Fascinations Grand Chorus – Terror In The Night

“The songs here set the scene at one of those summer camps that we Brits have no knowledge of but seem to be a staple in the American way of life. The songs are catchy (especially Camp Blood!) but watch out there may be an indiepop slasher about. It’s a cracking idea with excellent artwork to a tee. It’s enough to give you goosebumps…”

Terror In The Night is out now digitally via the band.
