Here are a few 2021 samplers I have been listening too. All are available as free/pay what you want downloads so you have nowt to lose (except some bandwidth perhaps!). If there are any 2021 Samplers you have come across that are worth a listen too please post in the comments!
Z Tapes 2021 Sampler
The annual sampler from the Slovakian label Z Tapes covering pop in various guises whether indie, lo-fi, diy, bedroom etc. Some of the names I recognise, most I do not. And that’s what these samplers are for! Janglepop reviews it here.
Artoffact Records 2021 Sampler
Canadian label Artoffact Records specialises in all things post-punk and bands such as Kælan Mikla, Ploho, Actors etc. have been featured on these pages before. Whilst I have neglected post-punk of late on the site late this sampler may help rectify things.
Drunken Sailor Records 2021 Sampler
UK label Drunken Sailor covers all things noisy such as punk, garage or power pop. I must admit that I have bypassed the label this year but there is some good stuff here as tracks by Smirk and Knowso testify.
matriXX – 20 Years of Alfa Matrix
Technically not a 2021 sampler but instead we get a 60 track affair covering the Bruxelle’s based labels history so far. The label specialises in post-punk, EBM, darkwave, goth and so much more. Check out the old guard such as Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb with the new including Cubic and 808 Pop. All time faves Metroland, who have links to both Cubic and 808 Pop, are here too!
