Die Zärtlichkeit have impressed these ears with their two self-released EP’s to date. They have now signed to Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten home to the likes of Jetstream Pony, The Golden Eaves and Pale Lights to name but a few. The new single France Gall is the first for the label and if you have been following the band’s progress you will an idea of how these tracks sound.
If you haven’t (and why not?) the two tracks here are heavily influenced by 1980s British indie whether it’s Postcard Records, The Medway Scene, The Housemartins or C86 in general.
On this ode to the late Isabelle Geneviève Marie Anne Gall Andreas Fischer vocals err on the dramatic, being slightly exaggerated whilst the guitar of Tobias Emmerich jangles emphasizing the harmonies throughout. Lovely stuff that simply reeks of nostalgia from the song’s sound, the video, Columbo and that Madness t-shirt.
France Gall, which is backed by Montagmorgen, is out now on 7″ vinyl and digital formats.
