The Catenary Wires, the band comprised of ex Tallulah Gosh and Heavenly members Rob Pursey and Amelia Fletcher, will be releasing a new album later this year. The first single to be taken from Birling Gap (a beautiful place it has to be said) is titled Mirrorball.
To be honest I have not been the greatest fan of The Catenary Wires output to date but this romantic duet set in an eighties disco is their finest moment so far – well to my ears anyway. Spoiler alert – no standing and leaving on their own in this tale! It’s a bouncy feelgood indiepop number that should bring a smile to your face as it does to the song’s protagonists.
It’s backed with I Wish You Were Here Now whilst the digital single features a bonus track in the shape of the band’s cover of The Human League’s (Keep Feeling) Fascination. Mirrorball is a split release between Skep Wax Records (UK) and Shelflife Records (US).
Note that you cannot by the Skep Wax vinyl release via Bandcamp (you have to try your local or online recordshop) although you can buy it digitally.
