No Middle Name – Meet The Folks

I must admit I have not listened to No Middle Name since 2017’s Fondness album and their name cropped up again on a twitter thread recently. They released a two part single last month in the shape of Meet The Folks and it’s retro sounding indiepop telling the tale of meeting the other half’s parents, delusions, fallout and the inevitable break up. The vocals of Lucy Martin on part one are a delight and the way she sings the response to David Bailey’s spoken narrative on part two are somewhat wrenching. They make the tuneful guitars seem like a bonus. Most good…..
