Sea Pinks – Crocuses EP

Belfast band Sea Pinks may have well released their final recording in the form of the Crocuses EP. The band’s Neil Brogan has written that the band are now, after ten years, on an indefinite hiatus although when it’s safe to do so maybe they will play the songs on the EP for an audience. If this really is the last we hear from them they have bowed out in some style as you cannot really fault any of the four alternative/jangle pop songs contained within. The Crocuses EP is available digitally from here. Facebook Continue reading Sea Pinks – Crocuses EP

The Saturday Session

Vamping – Holyoke To say that the new song from Amarillo’s Vamping is a shimmering delight is a vast understatement. Holyoke literally glows thanks to the harmonious synths and guitars coupled with a very catchy chorus and vocals. Lock-down positivity in a nutshell. Facebook Phosphene – Incandescent Plumes Incandescent Plumes is the third single to be taken forthcoming album Lotus Eaters. Rachel Frankel’s vocals are as lovely as ever despite the gloomy and dark words which seem to be a feature of their songs. Musically it’s less dream pop and more alt/indie rock than their previous efforts but I am … Continue reading The Saturday Session

August Round Up #1

Value Void – Babeland Babeland is the second track to be taken from the forthcoming Sentimental album which is due for release next month. Unlike previous track Back in the Day which was a nod to the post-punk era Babeland is much more of a jangling affair and very effective it is too. Facebook Our Girl – I really Like It I have just realised that despite including them on a number of playlists I have yet to give Our Girl a written mention on the blog. Let’s rectify that now and mention their new album Stranger Today is due … Continue reading August Round Up #1

Sea Pinks – Run & Run

Run & Run is an ode to the joys of spring but I think Belfast’s Sea Pinks have jumped the gun some what early as it’s pissing down and freezing cold in London Town as I write this! That said Run & Run is a pretty decent indiepop tune that has seen me press repeat on more than one occasion. And, thanks to the trumpet, it reminds me of The June Brides. Hang on? Is that the spring sun trying to break through? No….. *Presses play once more* Get it digitally from here. Facebook Continue reading Sea Pinks – Run & Run

Mixing It Up………….

A mid-April mix for your listening pleasure. Click here to take you to a Playmoss playlist featuring these and other tracks. The Death Of Pop – Busy With The Boys A track that takes a few listens to get into. Not sure what that annoying dib-be-do (sic) sample is doing in there either but it all comes good in the end! Facebook Youthmemory – City Flipside of their new single Neo Tokyo. Japan’s Youthmemory “go” all Radio Dept. and dancey shoegaze on us to great effect. Superb. Did I mention it was superb?
