Something For The Weekend? Three Christmas Releases

This weeks pack of three covers three releases that hark (ho ho ho) to the time of year. Say Sue Me – Christmas, It’s Not a Biggie Is this the EP that sees Sue Say Me turn into a fully fledged rock n’ roll band? The hints in their previous couple of releases bear fruition here. The excellent title track blends surf and indie pop whilst it also contains elements from The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping. Too Expensive Christmas Tree is a full on surf rock instrumental whilst the other two tracks are the band’s take on the more traditional Christmas … Continue reading Something For The Weekend? Say Sue Me – Just Joking Around/B-Lover

Excellent double sided new single from Busan’s Say Sue Me. Just Joking Around is a slow burning ballad before suddenly exploding into a frenzy of guitar riffs. Plenty of Pavement and Pale Saint influences on this one. Flip side B-Lover on the other hand is a fuzzy C86 laden affair which sees the band returning to the sound that grabbed me in the first place. Say Sue Me show no signs of letting up whatsoever. Just Joking Around/B-Lover is available as limited edition vinyl plus the usual digital formats. Order it from here. Facebook Continue reading Say Sue Me – Just Joking Around/B-Lover

Something For The Weekend? Damnably Presents – Attyuuma (Blink Of An Eye) 2018 Tour

London based promoter and label Damnably are promoting an excellent gig featuring their artists at London’s Scala on Thursday 19th April. I am there with bells on. This weeks pack of three features a track from each band playing. Otoboke Beaver – anata watashi daita ato yome no meshi Japan’s Otoboke Beaver are headlining and anata watashi daita ato yome no meshi is their latest single (Feb 18). I like the bands brand of shouty garage punk and this single is no exception. You can buy the band’s music from here. Say Sue Me/Otoboke – Beaver Split 7″

I mentioned Say Sue Me’s wonderful track Good For Some Reason last month and at that point it was only available digitally. It’s now surfaced on a split 7″ release via Damnably and on the flip side is the very shouty Sil Vous Plait from Japanese punk poppers Otoboke Beaver which might catch you unaware if you have the headphones on. My ears are still ringing. The vinyl comes in either split pink & blue or split blue & transparent. Order from Damnably. Say Sue Me – Good For Some Reason

Busan’s Say Sue Me could have eaily made one of the, if not, best tracks of the year for me. Good For Some Reason has been on constant repeat for a couple of weeks now and I don’t see that changing for quite some time. Indiepop at it’s glorious best. Excuse whilst I press play once more…… A vinyl version will appear on the Damnably label in the future but for now get it from the band digitally. Facebook Continue reading Say Sue Me – Good For Some Reason
