Rei Clone took a break from the nosier side of shoegaze on their last single Heaven Is Eternity but they are back with a vengeance on new track Taste Test. Sounding more Swervedriver than shoegaze the band blast their way through a raucous 2m50s without letting up as they plead “no I can’t ignore you, yeah I want to show you”. I wonder if they passed the Taste Test ? Top marks for the song but a definite low grade for the cover art! Facebook Continue reading Rei Clone – Taste Test
Texas based Rei Clone’s take on shoegaze is generally a noisy affair. This was demonstrated on a couple of the singles leading into their debut album Greetings From Somewhere which was released back in February. However on this, their latest single, the band have clearly moved into the ethereal side of things. Whilst Heaven Is Eternity can be just a noisy as it’s predecessors the vocals and sweeping guitar sound is reminiscent of the sound once found on 4AD and Creation. Rei Clone started the year well and they are ending it in even better shape! Facebook Continue reading Rei Clone – Heaven Is Eternity
Another one of those posts where I cannot decide if I am lazy or whether I listen to far too much. Anyway…. Elenin – Turtleneck Fuzzy and dreamy stuff from Indonesian shoegazers Elenin. I certainly did not want this one … Continue reading One Of Those Round Up Thingymajigs
Is it shoegaze punk or is it shoegaze metal? Personally I don’t care as suffice to say the latest track from Rei Clone is one noisy beast with plenty of hooks to catch even the most nonplussed of listeners. Fab! Facebook Continue reading Rei Clone – (Do You Know) I Still Think About You
Rei Clone – Lavender Lavender is the third single to be lifted from the forthcoming album Greetings From Somewhere. It’s more noise from these Texan shoegazers and this track reminds me a bit of early Lush. Roll on that album. Facebook The Reds, Pinks & Purples – Dead End Days (demo) Is there any more I can add about the The Reds, Pinks & Purples in addition to what I have written about them already? I thought not so I will let the music speak for itself and to be fair it’s doing a damn fine job! Noxantes – Fingers-Crossed … Continue reading Taking it one track at a time
Noisy shoegaze from Denton based Rei Clone. I really like the way they twist the guitars and vocals that deviate from the shoegazing norm. It’s an ear cruncher all right. And as for embarrassing? Certainly not! Facebook Continue reading Rei Clone – Embarrassing
Rounding up some new tracks that have been released over the past few weeks or two… The Golden Rail – Don’t Let Go Of The Light The first single taken from a yet unnamed second album due for release next year. Distinct and mature sounding indiepop from the band that features ex members of Palisades, The Rainyard, Header, Summer Suns etc. Facebook Rei Clone – Wave Somewhat noisy and very impressive shoegaze from Texan’s Rei Clone. Facebook Fanclub – Reflection More from Texas but this time a slice of twee inspired indiepop. Facebook Fawns of Love – Mournful Eyes The … Continue reading One Track Wonders…..
