Mamtor – Did You Keep The Humour?

This one caught my eye recently – or should that be ears? The reason being is that the band feature in their line up one Paul Brotherton who was the guitarist for “C86 legends”, The Bodines. Brotherton is joined by ex-members of the Bison and The Soil Brothers to complete the high peak district based band’s line up. Did You Keep The Humour? is the band’s second single and is a jangling alt-rock track. There are echoes of Brotherton’s guitar work for the Bodines whilst the vocals come across quite strongly. Lower Than Underground Vol. 1

Lower Than Underground Vol. 1 is a compilation that will be released jointly via Greek label Old Bad Habits and the UK label Shambotic Recordings. The compilation features 22 tracks, of which are all cover versions. The former describe some of these originals as being from artists “who invented indie pop”. Hmmmm. Anyway the compilations provides bands such as The Frenchmen, Boyracer, Manhatten Love Suicides, The Jasmine Minks, Horowitz, Davey Woodward and Wimpy Milkshake covering the likes of The Primitives, Talulah Gosh, Beat Happening, Velvet Underground, Television Personalities, The Turtles and The Shirelles to name but a few.
