Aside from some of the tracks I have written about recently there is some excellent music here – why would I include anything but! If you have missed any previous playlists you can find them here. Continue reading Blow City – A Records I Like Playlist (November #1)

Briya – Lado A/Lado B

No Halloween nonsense from me today. Instead here are the first two releases (or both sides of just one?) from Argentinian band Britya. Regardless whether it’s just the one release or two all the tracks here encompass many of the ingredients that make up indiepop with twee, dream pop, noise pop and fuzzy guitar pop alongside healthy does of punk and riot grrrl. It’s on the latter, particularly Tiempo, that they shine to these ears and it’s further evidenced on the shouty Todo Me Enamora. It’s all good fun and Briya provide one of the best debut releases I have … Continue reading Briya – Lado A/Lado B

Daze In The Sun – A Records I Like Playlist (October #3)

A third and final playlist for October which should see you through the week and into November. There is so much good stuff out there now I could not possibly write about them all so these playlists are great as they encapsulate what I found on bandcamp. Sea Blite – Sea Blite

Extremely catchy pop music from San Francisco’s Sea Blite who have a sound that transcends through the decades. I can hear 1960’s girl bands alongside 1980’s indiepop, 1960’s garage and music from the 1990’s such as Tiger Trap, The Softies and All Girl Summer Fun Band to name but a few. It’s all lovely stuff and If tracks like Pretend and Woolly Jumper don’t have you smiling or at least tapping your feet by the end I will, erm, eat my woolly sweater! Available on cassette from Long Live Death Records or digitally from the band. Facebook Continue reading Sea Blite – Sea Blite

Atta Girl -Betty’s Begonia

Betty’s Begonia is the first I have heard from Atta Girl. It’s a great EP where shouty pop, garage, riot grrrl and twee/indiepop collide. The vocals are unique and distinctive to say the least whilst the music supplements them to great effect. I guess they will not be everyone’s cup of tea but thankfully they are mine. And given the origins of their name, there is also an excellent cover of Heavenly’s P.U.N.K Girl here too. It’s out now on cassette via Trrrash Records or as a pay what you want download. Facebook Continue reading Atta Girl -Betty’s Begonia

Verbludes – Угадай

Verbludes are a twee pop band from Russia and Угадай, which according to Google translate is means Guess seems to be their first release. Both tracks here are pretty strong examples of twee/indiepop including some excellent boy/girl vocals and swirling melodies. Oh opening track Быть тебе интересным translates as Be interesting to you. And this release certainly is…… It’s available on a pay what you want basis from here. Homepage Continue reading Verbludes – Угадай
