The new double a-sided single from The Jeanines provides two short and sweet indiepop songs that clock in at ninety seconds each. The band’s retro inspired sound still manages to be distinctive, well they cannot fail to be otherwise given the voice of Alicia Jeanine, but can still send the old timers like me back to the 1980s and the days of fanzines and flexis. Breathe Out is taken from the forthcoming album Autumn/Winter by the Boston based duo, comprising of Liam James Marsh and Alice Kat, Fine. It’s an upbeat track but lyrically errs on the dejected and unhappy side. Musically it’s lo-fi twee inspired indiepop with the joint vocals working well. It’s a good pointer for that new album.
