A Thursday Bunch of Five

The Vapour Veils – I Am Human And I Need To Be Loved

No guessing where that song title comes from! The Vapour Veils are from Stockholm and comprise of Magnus (guitars/vocals), Carl (guitars), Andy (bass/backing vocals) and Totte (drums/backing vocals). I Am Human And I Need To Be Loved is their second single and is a soaring, catchy indie/alt rock track. At points strays into anthem territory but with a song title like that who can blame them? It’s taken from the forthcoming debut album The Last Hurrah which should see the light of day in October 2022.

Beach Vacation – All For Me

Jangling dreampop from Seattle’s Beach Vacation with words describing both curiosity and sadness. A bit like me when I see my daily task list! The band are currently working on their next album but until then All For Me can be picked up via Z Tapes.

エイプリルブルー – 春の病

Or alternatively known as Spring Disease by April Blue. The song itself is a fast paced and sometimes noisy shoegaze track with some pleasant poppy female vocals for company. The crescendo before the song peaks is very nice indeed.

The Happy Somethings – The Present

Talking of pleasant things the new single from The Happy Somethings is free, free and erm free. It’s a twee pop track with clever words too, utilising a gift to describe a doomed relationship or possibly a lost friendship. Get it from here.

The Age of Colored Lizards – Don’t Say Goodbye

The band write that Don’t Say Goodbye was recorded by the “original Lizards” last month and it is their first recording together since 2017. It’s a pretty decent track too with energetic guitars which give it a droning “feel” coupled with hints of psychedelia. Christian Dam’s voice fits in perfectly too. Don’t Say Goodbye is taken from the forthcoming album that should be released in early 2023.
