Sicayda – It Changed

It Changed is the first in a series of single drops before the band release their next EP or album. It’s a track that was written a couple of years ago and despite not appearing on their debut EP the band write that it’s a “fan favorite” and they “finally feel it has reached its full potential as a song”. I can see why it ‘s a favourite as it’s a feisty track mixing post-punk and shoegaze to great effect whilst the energetic vocals give the song another dynamic. Rousing and pleasing! Face Myself – A (Bonus!) Post-Punk Mix

Well that was a few enjoyable days in Budapest and this mix was on my player during the trip. Why another post-punk mix so soon you ask? Whilst putting together the Silent & Alone mix I had a number of tracks that did not fit in that mix, were left over or, in the case of one or two, forgotten. So, primarily for my commute, I put together another mix and thought I would share the end results as I think it works really well. Anyway enjoy! Full Tracklisting: Human Program – Bacteria Sounding like long lost outtakes from the … Continue reading Face Myself – A (Bonus!) Post-Punk Mix

Silent & Alone – A Post-Punk Mix

It’s been at least a month or so since the last post-punk mix and in that time there have been plenty of excellent singles and a few albums. Alternative stream at hearthis. Full Track Listing: Molchat Doma – Zvezdy Quite a lot post-punk is aimed at the dancefloors these days and Zvezdy is no exception. See ya down there! Spheres – Leere … Continue reading Silent & Alone – A Post-Punk Mix

The Epigones – The Epigones

Inspired musically (and in the artwork too) by British post-punk bands such as Echo & The Bunnymen, The Sound and The Chameleons to name but a few the self titled debut from Ontario’s The Epigones is a mandatory listen. The songs highlight and showcase the incredibly strong vocals and the band’s guitar based sound. The way these come together both structurally and melodically is impressive to say the least. Just check these songs out and the way the guitars jangle themselves senseless on First Sunday of Your Vacation is particularity astounding to these ears. Anyone wanna buy a bridge? Холодный звонок – Генерал

I have been enjoying the EPs released this year by one man outfit Холодный звонок which roughly translates as Cold Calling. His (Dmitry Scherbakov) music is on the poppier side of coldwave and there are four synth-pop tracks here including two cover versions of originals by – well I haven’t a clue to be honest. The songs are energetic and lively despite being resplendent with words sung in a dour vocal style. However I think that adds to the charm as demonstrated on Дела which is my pick of the tracks on offer. EDIT – I think I located the … Continue reading Холодный звонок – Генерал
