Excellent double sided new single from Busan’s Say Sue Me. Just Joking Around is a slow burning ballad before suddenly exploding into a frenzy of guitar riffs. Plenty of Pavement and Pale Saint influences on this one. Flip side B-Lover on the other hand is a fuzzy C86 laden affair which sees the band returning to the sound that grabbed me in the first place. Say Sue Me show no signs of letting up whatsoever. Some Gorgeous Accident – Heaven Sent Heaven Sent certainly isn’t the sound of a band heading towards it’s final destination as their Facebook page indicates but it looks like it’s the end of the road for a band who have been around in one guise or another since 2006/07. Value Void – Babeland Babeland is the second track to be taken from the forthcoming Sentimental album which is due for release next month. Unlike previous track Back in the Day which was a nod to the post-punk era Babeland is much more of a jangling affair and very effective it is too. Another day and another Japanese band with a song called Sway! However this one harks to the 1960’s girl group sounds and treads the same territory as The Yearning, Lucky Soul and The School to name but a few. It’s dreamy stuff. On Sway Snowflakes pay homage to all things Sarah Records and I can certainly hear elements of The Wake and Another Sunny Day during the song and that is no bad thing. Flip side New Soul is not so twee and if I had to draw a comparison the Lightning Seeds spring to mind. Despite being around since 2003 this is the first I have heard from this Japanese outfit who luckily for me have their entire discography available on Bandcamp for a bargain price! Wake In June is 20 year old Italian based Enrico Pastore. These two tracks are taken from the forthcoming 1998 EP consisting of jangling guitars and laid back vocals. I can only describe them both as blissful, dreamy indiepop indiepop to erm,chill out too! Blanco’s follow up to last Octobers Wake With Moon Tide covers both sides of the indiepop coin. Isolated City is a laid back affair packed to the rafters with gloomy lyrics whilst Paradise is more upbeat despite the foreboding the lyrics hint at. However the potential misfortune is soon forgotten with the boy/girl vocals and the guitar/synth combination that invoke memories of 1960’s psychedelic pop which will soon have you nodding along.
