Wedding Camp – Clear Fizzy Things

Clear Fizzy Things (surely Clear FUZZY Things thanks to the guitars) consists of four noisy tracks with only one making it over the two-minute mark – just! Mixing garage, indie and a lo-fi DIY attitude these punk-pop tracks certainly make an impression over their six and a bit minutes thanks to the aforementioned guitars, driving drums and the excellent vocals. Me like…… Available on cassette from Dadstache Records or digitally on a pay what you want basis from the band. Facebook Continue reading Wedding Camp – Clear Fizzy Things

Records I Like Top 10 2016

Blimey. This year’s list was hard to compile given that I restrict myself to just 10 choices (self-inflicted stupidity!). I have been listening to plenty of punk, coldwave, indie-pop, riot grrrl, queercore, garage and post-punk but I think this selection is a fair reflection of my listening habits these past 12 months. Tracks missing the cut include the likes of Underworld, Joanna Gruesome, The Radio Dept., The Legends, Earth Girls,The Liminanas, Red Sleeping Beauty, Massive Attack, Jessica & The Fletchers, Vital Idles, Useless Youth, E’spaniel, Nice Try, Hate Week, Primetime, Tape Waves, The Wolfhounds, Merchandise, Slam, Blind Delon, Lad’s Mags, … Continue reading Records I Like Top 10 2016

Finishing Off….. 2016

After scrolling through my bookmarks here are some releases that deserved posts of their own but a busier solstice than usual has prevented that so please divert your ears into the direction of the following: Swimming Tapes – Set The Fire / Souvenirs Excellent debut 7″ from this London based alternative pop band. Facebook Son Bou – Cinta Indiepop from Barcelona. Out now on cassette from Snap! Clap! Facebook Kamikaze Girls – SAD Kamikaze Girls could be described as an angrier and noisier version of Curve. Stitches is a must hear. Facebook Fascinations Grand Chorus – Actor/Actress More dreamy 1960’s … Continue reading Finishing Off….. 2016

Catching Up with Long Players!

Young Romance – Another’s Blood After what seemed like aeons Young Romance finally released their debut album at the back end of last month. Because of that the album does have that “best of” feel but given the likes of previous singles Pale and Wild who can really complain? Buy it from here or digitally from the band. Facebook Bubblegum Lemonade – The Great Leap Backward I must admit to having mixed feelings about Bubblegum Lemonade these days. I was not too impressed by July’s Beard On A Bike EP as, aside from the title track, the rest of their … Continue reading Catching Up with Long Players!

Something For The Weekend – Three (Free?) Sampler Pack

Three label samplers for you today all of which are available for free – well on a pay what you want basis. That should keep you busy over the weekend. Oddbox Records feature a lot on this site simply because they consistently put out quality releases on a regular basis. The originally named 2016 rounds up their output this year and there are choice cuts here from The Wolfhounds, The Manhattan Love Suicides, The Bellamys, City Yelps and plenty more. Facebook I also like a lot of the music that Emotional Response releases but for some reason, I have not … Continue reading Something For The Weekend – Three (Free?) Sampler Pack

Something for the Weekend….

Another three pack for your discovery/enjoyment etc. The first two featured in the recent podcast and it’s only fair to give them more of a mention. The Lads Mags – The Future’s Done Excellent 1960’s girl band influenced garage from Canadian’s The Lad Mags. Of the two tracks available it’s opener Bed of Bones that does it for me and I stupidly gave it the wrong title in the aforementioned podcast – now corrected. Reagrdless of what it is called it’s an excellent track. It’s available as a free download/pay what you want from their bandcamp page. Facebook Fascinations Grand … Continue reading Something for the Weekend….

The Lemons – Hello, We’re The Lemons

The Lemons have collated all their songs into one lovely album. Each one of the 28 songs here, ranging from 30 odd seconds to just over two minutes,  will leave you with a smile on your face. If, like me, you like 1960’s inspired garage/surf songs about jelly beans, daft conversations, elephants and friends then you are in the right place. It’s available to pre-order from Burger Records in vinyl and cassette formats. Alternatively get it digitally from the band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLp486L2MaU Facebook Continue reading The Lemons – Hello, We’re The Lemons

Holiday Tuneage!

It’s going to be a bit silent around here for the next couple of weeks whilst I am away but that doesn’t mean that there will be nothing left to listen too judging by this round up post which features some music I have meaning to mention separately but time etc. First up is The Death of Pop with their new single Bubble Bath that features four excellent indie pop tracks. Not much progression from their previous work but if it ain’t broke………………. The excellent The Choo Choo Trains, who describe themselves as playing “girl-guide Shoegaze”, have a new cassette … Continue reading Holiday Tuneage!
