Texpack – Perfect Buzz

Perfect Buzz is proof that not all Indonesian bands take their inspiration from the city of Bristol in England’s west country. Perfect Buzz takes its lead from Seattle born grunge before settling on an all encompassing college rock sound. However, it’s the fuzzy guitar sound of Ocean Breath I prefer and the vocals somehow gives the song a poppier edge. These two tracks were originally found on the 2016 Courageous EP released on Hujan! Rekords and they have now been released as a free download single on Dismantled. An album follows later this year on Anoa Records. Continue reading Texpack – Perfect Buzz

Trauma Ray – wmd/grind

Texan band Trauma Ray deliver two contrasting variations on the shoegazing theme on their latest single. wmd errs on the side of traditional sounding shoegazing until the noise-rock guitars kick in. Grind features a tasty blend of shoegaze, post-rock, psychedelia and also includes some hardcore punk guitars as the band refuse to be constrained. It’s entertaining stuff whichever way you want to look at it. wmd/grind is available from Dreamy Life Records. Facebook Continue reading Trauma Ray – wmd/grind

The Age of Colored Lizards – Blurry Eyes

Norways’ The Age of Colored Lizards have, over the past couple of releases, moved further and further away from their shoegazing roots and Blurry Eyes is no exception. Sticking with the 1960s psychedelic theme and fuzzy guitars heard on their previous single I also hear elements of Britpop creeping in for the first time giving this track a poppier edge. A case of taking the rough with the smooth! Facebook Continue reading The Age of Colored Lizards – Blurry Eyes
