Firstly happy new year one and all. Secondly this post is far later than planned due to a rather hectic Yuletide break and I initially created it in Spotify whilst I was away. Whilst some tracks are missing (these will be covered in future mixes especially those from Indonesian labels) here are 40 tracks that caught my ear in 2024.

A highlight for me has been the number of female fronted bands that blur the line between post-punk and indie pop who have released excellent singles and albums including Dancer, G2g, Cœur À L’Index, Tofa, Alvilda, The Cords and Morgana.

The songs here are, as ever, not presented in any order of preference. The one song that has been on constant playback since it was released has been Sea Lions and their comeback single for Yay! Records, Out Alive. To be fair label mates Boy/Girl ran them close.
