On the face of it, the new single from Bangkok’s Traveling With Monika is catchy and upbeat thanks to the rhythm of the guitars and the lovely vocals of Nisarat Jongwisan. However, the title may give a clue is not all well and when reading the translated lyrics all becomes clear.
The subject of Brutal is the current government of Thailand and the current unrest facing the country. Jongwisan sings “it’s a plan to defeat us, with their sweet discourse, To the most brutal murder in our histories” and it’s hard not to sympathise. Fight the power.
