Dallas Tears – Passion Star

Dallas Star hail from England’s second city Birmingham and writes that his/their music is “recorded at night using a broken cassette four-track and an ancient computer”.

There are some lovely electronic sounds emerging on Passion Star which works well with the vocals and programming. I am not sure if the description of “lo-fi bedroom shoegaze” is right in this case as there are some lovely indiepop moments too but lets not get constrained by genres eh? It gets better on Secret Heartbeat which is a damn fine example of bedroom pop complete with hushed vocals whilst the programmed drums hit the right spot.

I really enjoyed these two tracks and found plenty more to listen to on their Soundcloud page. Check out The Shoulders Of Helen which has mesmerising (sampled?) vocals over a shimmering electronic beat which leaves one in a dreamy state of mind. I hope this one gets a release!

Passion Star is available to download free but if you do pay all monies will go to the NHS.
