Witterings from an old indie kid

Red Sleeping Beauty – New York City Girls

Red Sleeping Beauty have had a great 2019 what with the Stockholm album and all the singles & mixes taken from it. For their final (I presume!) release of 2019 they lift yet another track from said album in the shape of a new and edited version of New York City Girls. The track has already seen a rework back in August when the band teamed up with Cristina Quesada on Chicas De Madrid.

It’s one of my favourite tracks from Stockholm and the electro-pop beats sound a bit deeper here drawing on the stadium house sounds of the KLF. It’s backed with a new version/mix of Tonight, Tonight, Tonight from last year’s Always On Your Side EP which replaces the original male vocals with those of Kristina’s. The original synth pop sound has been stripped right back and as a result it sounds orchestral in places. Nice!
