Witterings from an old indie kid

Various Artists – Popkiss

Brazilian label The Blog That Celebrates Itself Records specialises in releasing tribute albums which are either awful or great depending on your point of view. Popkiss is the latest volume and features tributes to tracks released on Sarah Records.

It’s the obvious tracks that are covered here although the lack of any Sea Urchins covers come as a surprise. Whilst some of these covers are note for note versions (and to be fair the originals are perfect) there are some good efforts by Battery Point, Waving Blue amongst others. However the standout for me so far is the Glass Arcades cover of Secret Shine’s Snowfall Sorrow. A brave effort all round!
