Cleve – Jeda

There are tracks that when you first hear them make you jump up and down and bounce around like a buffoon. Just me then? Anyway Jeda by Cleve is one of those tracks and whilst I admit it’s not a pretty sight to watch these days it has the desired effect thanks to frantic, fuzzy indiepop on offer. Flip side Lagu Pagi is just as good albeit in a more laid back way. Amazingly they are giving it away for free on a pay what you want basis. Hand over you dosh and bounce around for joy! Something For The Weekend? – Three Playlist Highlights

This week’s pack of three feature selections from the recent Records I Like playlist that you should listen to further. Vim – Down Down is a dreamy ethereal track  which has been released as a taster to the full EP Ukiyo that is due out in December. If Down is the taster then I cannot wait until the full banquet that EP promises to bring. Hurry up – I am getting hungry! Facebook Weed Hounds – Double Life Fuzzy noisy and tuneful pop of the highest order can be found on New York’s Weed Hounds first release for three years. It’s … Continue reading Something For The Weekend? – Three Playlist Highlights

Blanco – Wake With Moon Tide

Blanco’s second EP release is a rather pleasant way of spending an Autumn afternoon. The EP contains three excellent indiepop songs that encourage me to close my eyes, relax and day dream to my hearts content. Well until the EP finishes and I have to press the play button again! The remastered version of Kinyoubi No Yoru is the EP’s standout track but there are no fillers here. Not sure why I started singing Made of Stone during Let Me though…. Get it from here. Continue reading Blanco – Wake With Moon Tide

Sundivers – A Records I Like Playlist (October 2017 #2)

A new week and a new playlist. Some great new tracks for you including one from the new project of Ville Hopponen (ex Cats on Fire, Le Futur Pompiste etc.) alongside tracks from the likes of Airiel, The Luxembourg Signal, Just Blankets, The Weed Hounds. Not forgetting the return of Flying Num Stalwarts Sneaky Feelings of course! Enjoy…. Continue reading Sundivers – A Records I Like Playlist (October 2017 #2)

Closure/Strangeways – Split

Closure’s Journey EP is one of the releases of the year for me. Their post-punk/indie pop hybrid sound shows no sign of abating on their contribution Warehouse. Jangling guitars and morose vocals. What’s not too love? Flipside Strange Ways by Strangeways, who have been around for a while, is just as good. It’s slower paced and whilst there is something familiar about it I just cannot place it. Like the songs lyrics it does indeed get under the skin as well as in your head. A cracking release. It’s available on CDR from O Pamela or digitally from Let’s Kiss … Continue reading Closure/Strangeways – Split

Boys/Magic Potion – Split 7″

Wow. A rather splendid 7″ single via the PNKSLM Recordings label featuring two excellent bands from Sweden. Rabbits by Boys is a dreamy, indiepop number that draws it influences from 1960’s girl bands to 1980’s UK indie and utilises them to great effect not to dissimilar to what The School were doing a while back. . Facebook Lose Yr Skull by Magic Potion on the AA side may upset the indiepop purists out there but their garage inspired take on the genre gets the thumbs up from me especially when it comes to the vocals that give this track so … Continue reading Boys/Magic Potion – Split 7″

Something For The Weekend? – Shoegaze Compilations

And the pack of three is back! Not sure anyone missed it but hey. This weeks pack of three features three shoegazing complications two of which are recently released whilst one came out earlier this year. Dreaming in Sound by Shoegazer Sanctuary Records First up is Dreaming in Sound from Shoegazer Sanctuary Records and label which, unsurprisingly given it’s name, has released a number of shoegazing compilations before. There is plenty here to discover and I enjoyed the contributions from Wintermilk and Blushing. There are even shoegazing covers of The Byrds and New Order so dive in. Get it from here on … Continue reading Something For The Weekend? – Shoegaze Compilations

Puzzles y Dragones – Fuerzas Absurdas

More tuneful indiepop for you today in the shape of Fuerzas Absurdas (Absurd Forces in English) from Puzzles y Dragones. It’s taken from their forthcoming debut album Vuelven Puzzles y Dragones and is their first release since 2013’s Somos Puzzles y Dragones. As for the track it’s catchy and bouncy in all the right places despite the sombre lyrics (I had to translate them!). I will be keeping an ear out for the album which is due out next month on Discos De Kirlian. Facebook Continue reading Puzzles y Dragones – Fuerzas Absurdas

Say Sue Me – Good For Some Reason

Busan’s Say Sue Me could have eaily made one of the, if not, best tracks of the year for me. Good For Some Reason has been on constant repeat for a couple of weeks now and I don’t see that changing for quite some time. Indiepop at it’s glorious best. Excuse whilst I press play once more…… A vinyl version will appear on the Damnably label in the future but for now get it from the band digitally. Facebook Continue reading Say Sue Me – Good For Some Reason
