Marcos Y Molduras – Te Puedes Morir

Marcos Y Molduras follow up previous single La De Parks with new track Te Puedes Morir. Whilst the former was fuzzy brilliance the latter is a slower paced affair which sways onto the side of twee pop. However it is not all sugar sweet as you may first suspect! When the lyrics are translated it hints at darker thoughts as behind the smiling facade the subject matters lover can die if her feelings are not reciprocated. Gulp….. Te Puedes Morir is out now digitally on Discos De Kirlian. Continue reading Marcos Y Molduras – Te Puedes Morir

Fog – Fictitious Fiction Fictitious

I wrote about Fog back in early February when their single Shine/Dreaming Dreaming Dreaming was released. Since then the Seoul based band have undergone a couple of line up changes and, as we start the descent towards the end of 2019, they have just released a new version of Fictitious Fiction Fictitious which originally appeared on their demo album The Harder We Push, The Faster We’ll All Get Outta Here. And what a transformation it is. Whereas the original hinted at beauty underneath, on this version it comes to the straight to the fore. When a song you liked it’s … Continue reading Fog – Fictitious Fiction Fictitious

Mo Dotti – Gravity Well

I am not sure if I do a band a disservice when I compare them against bands from my youth especially, at given my age, it skips a generation! Obviously the pointers are there for me but I do wonder if some who read these pages know what I am going on about. Why do I mention this? Well it’s because on Gravity Well Los Angeles based Mo Dotti sound, right down to the vocals, so much like Lush it’s uncanny. Of course in my world that’s a good thing and if some say that is a lazy comparison then … Continue reading Mo Dotti – Gravity Well

K. Campbell – Chords Come Easy/Static Threads

It was one of the excellent shows from Emmas House Music that put me onto K. Campbell and his excellent Head’s Up single from February this year. Campbell has now followed that single up with two more bursts of power-pop that should get your feet tapping as a bare minimum. On Chords Come Easy it’s the words that Campbell that struggles with as he sings “cuz i’d rather waste my time than have nothing to say” as the guitars fuzz and buzz. However it’s on Static Threads that Campbell impresses the most, both lyrically and musically with the guitars towards … Continue reading K. Campbell – Chords Come Easy/Static Threads

Fresh – Cinema Woes

Cinema Woes was recorded at the same time as Fresh were recording their debut album Withdraw which was released back in June. It’s short, sharp pop-punk tune with an energetic burst despite the anxiety behind the words. All proceeds from sales of the song goes to Beat, which is an eating disorders charity. Go and part with some pennies for a worthy cause as well as a cracking tune. Facebook Continue reading Fresh – Cinema Woes

Rei Clone – Heaven Is Eternity

Texas based Rei Clone’s take on shoegaze is generally a noisy affair. This was demonstrated on a couple of the singles leading into their debut album Greetings From Somewhere which was released back in February. However on this, their latest single, the band have clearly moved into the ethereal side of things. Whilst Heaven Is Eternity can be just a noisy as it’s predecessors the vocals and sweeping guitar sound is reminiscent of the sound once found on 4AD and Creation. Rei Clone started the year well and they are ending it in even better shape! Facebook Continue reading Rei Clone – Heaven Is Eternity

Iris – Clementine

Clementine is the first we have heard from Canadians Iris for well over a year and it is also the first single to be taken from their forthcoming debut album Slowly, Forever. I am not sure about one of your five a day but Clementine is a track that gives you everything you could possibly want from a shoegazing track from the gleaming guitars, telling words and the emotive vocals. It’s a beautiful song. Slowly, Forever is due for release on November 15th but for now you can get Clementine from here. Facebook Continue reading Iris – Clementine

Terry vs. Tori – Keepsake Box

The latest single from Sevilla’s Terry vs. Tori is, if I have kept count correctly, the 5th single to be taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album provisionally entitled Heathers. At this rate it’s going to be a greatest hits album and the band can call it a night because Keepsake Box is yet another effortless indiepop song. The band have now added synthesizers into the mix which has added yet another layer of vibrancy to their sound. It’s out now digitally via El Genio Equivocado.
