Fusing indiepop and shoegaze together Malmo’s We. the Pigs make a lovely tuneful racket. This is their second EP and picks up right where the first left off. Noisy but blissful and shimmering guitars bounce off the vocals causing the listener to sway with gay abandon. And if Too Young is not floating around your top 10 tracks of 2017 come December then you must be listening you the wrong thing. Or I am! Cattle – Slow Sailor EP

Upbeat, catchy and totally fun indiepop from Tokyo’s Cattle on their second EP. I just don’t get the label’s shoegaze or dream pop references as this EP sounds like good old fashioned indiepop. I would go as far as saying it sounds like Strawberry Story to these ears right down to the singer’s vocals. And that’s including the cover of Ride’s Twisterella. Maybe Cattle’s Made of Stone moment? I think I may have solved the problem of embedded playlists (wordpress.com does not support iframe) but with two steps instead of one. A tip on the wordpress.com support boards got me thinking about having a clickable image which brings up a pop-up player. Clear Fizzy Things (surely Clear FUZZY Things thanks to the guitars) consists of four noisy tracks with only one making it over the two-minute mark – just! Mixing garage, indie and a lo-fi DIY attitude these punk-pop tracks certainly make an impression over their six and a bit minutes thanks to the aforementioned guitars, driving drums and the excellent vocals. The Fireworks – Dream About You

The Fireworks release their new single Dream About You next week. It’s also their first material with new vocalist Beth Arzy (Trembling Blue Stars/Lightning in a Twilight Hour/The Luxembourg Signal). Thankfully the change of singer does not affect the band’s brand of fuzzy, sometimes noisy, indie pop. All three tracks here are corkers but it’s Better Without You Now that stands out for me especially given its retro sound and the joint girl/boy vocals shining throughout. Red Rosie – Red Roses

A bit tongue twister this one if you say the band name and song title too fast. Two versions of the same song here. The EP mix is the rawer of the two being somewhat noisy with shouty female vocals whilst the single version is scaled down musically with the instruments shining through. Additionally, the vocals are more harmonious with both male/female voices being both gentle and dominant at the same time. It’s a win-win situation and I cannot wait to hear more.
