Compilation Week – Fall 2017

Technically it’s still Autumn so I think I can get away with this one! Fall 2017 is the latest compilation from Slovakian tape label Z Tapes. I am not going to kid you and aside from Soft Pastels I have not heard of any of the other 26 bands featured. However there is some interesting stuff here and this release serves as a great introduction to the label. Stand out tracks include efforts from the likes of Leor Miller, Candy and Memoryville and the compilation covers bedroom pop, DIY, indiepop and lo-fi pop mixtape. Briya – Lado A/Lado B

No Halloween nonsense from me today. Instead here are the first two releases (or both sides of just one?) from Argentinian band Britya. Regardless whether it’s just the one release or two all the tracks here encompass many of the ingredients that make up indiepop with twee, dream pop, noise pop and fuzzy guitar pop alongside healthy does of punk and riot grrrl. Blanco – Wake With Moon Tide

Blanco’s second EP release is a rather pleasant way of spending an Autumn afternoon. The EP contains three excellent indiepop songs that encourage me to close my eyes, relax and day dream to my hearts content. Well until the EP finishes and I have to press the play button again! And the pack of three is back! Not sure anyone missed it but hey. This weeks pack of three features three shoegazing complications two of which are recently released whilst one came out earlier this year. Dreaming in Sound by Shoegazer Sanctuary Records First up is Dreaming in Sound from Shoegazer Sanctuary Records and label which, unsurprisingly given it’s name, has released a number of shoegazing compilations before. The Morelings – We Were

The Morelings debut album Same Century is out this week and We Were is the lead single taken from it. It’s a fine slice of luscious, polished dreampop and is a firm indicator of what the album may bring. Buy Same Century from here.
