Tyrannosaurus Dead – Flying Ant Day

Tyrannosaurus Dead recently released their debut long player Flying Ant Day on Oddbox Records. It features ten tracks including the single Post Holiday Dead Song as well as personal fave Local Bullies. Fuzzy guitars provide a backing to vocals that merge and blur with lyrics dealing with desperation and frustration. What’s not too like? Get it here in various formats. Crimson Wave – Say / Calling You 7″

It’s hard not to think of the Deal sisters when listening to this excellent EP from Baltimore’s Crimson Wave as I can hear the likes of The Breeders and The Amps here. However that’s a lazy comparison to make but given that I keep stating this is not a review site it’s the best you are going to get out of me on a downcast Wednesday afternoon other than give it a listen, it’s great! It’s out now on Accidental Guest Records or you can buy it digitally from the label’s bandcamp page. The digital version has a bonus track. … Continue reading Crimson Wave – Say / Calling You 7″

September Round-Up

Blimey – where has the month gone? I know I have been busy at work but. Anyway here is a round up of what I have been listening too these past few weeks. And if you want to listen whilst you read (or just listen) here is a Minlogs playlist covering tracks from this post. I am sure you have heard it already but if not The Radio Dept. released their first single in four years Death to Fascism at the beginning of the month to coincide with the Swedish general election. Mighty fine it is too (as well as … Continue reading September Round-Up

Liar is taken from the new split release with the lo-fi sounds made by Trust Fund. Flowers – Joanna

Here is another track taken from Flower’s debut album Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do which is due out next month. New single Joanna was originally released last year on Oddbox Records and whilst this version a bit more polished thankfully it does not lose much of it’s rawness. Indeed Rachel’s voice is stunningly brought to the fore! Joanna is out later this month as a limited edition 7″ single. The album will be out on Fortuna Pop (UK/EU) and Kanine Records (US) on September 8th & 9th. Facebook Continue reading Flowers – Joanna

Flowers – Young

Young is taken from Flowers forthcoming debut album Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do which is due out in early September on Fortuna Pop (UK/EU) and Kanine Records (US). A lovely, lovely song and I cannot wait to hear the rest. You can buy Young digitally from Bandcamp. EDIT: A nice interview with band member Rachel can be found at DOA – adequacy.net Facebook Continue reading Flowers – Young

Clearing The Decks

I have bookmarked a lot of music to mention but time prevents me from writing about them all individually so this post is a round up of them all serving as my must buy list too! Note: if you want to listen to a companion playlist to this post head over here. The Hundredth Anniversary released their Wreckers EP back in March. Not sure why I didn’t mention it then as it’s great. Another great release on Oddbox Records. Spanish indie poppers Band A Part have a compilation of their early material and demos out on Elefant Records. It’s a … Continue reading Clearing The Decks

bentcousin – Dizzy

Dizzy is the second single from bentcousin who comprise of twins Amelia and Pat. It sounds like a cross between Colour Me Wednesday and Curve’s Ten Little Girls thanks to the rap in the middle. Don’t let that three letter word put you off as this is a great summer pop tune. Things get darker however on the brooding flip side that shows there is more to bentcousin than meets the eye (or should that be ears?). Dizzy is out on Team Love Records in 7″ and digital formats. Get it from the label (US) or from Norman Records for … Continue reading bentcousin – Dizzy
