Something For The Weekend? Damnably Presents – Attyuuma (Blink Of An Eye) 2018 Tour

London based promoter and label Damnably are promoting an excellent gig featuring their artists at London’s Scala on Thursday 19th April. I am there with bells on. This weeks pack of three features a track from each band playing. Otoboke Beaver – anata watashi daita ato yome no meshi Japan’s Otoboke Beaver are headlining and anata watashi daita ato yome no meshi is their latest single (Feb 18). I like the bands brand of shouty garage punk and this single is no exception. You can buy the band’s music from here. Aurora Lights – A Records I Like Playlist (March 2018 #2)

There has been plenty of good “tuneage” this month. Certainly enough to warrant a second playmoss mix for your listening pleasure. There are a number I have written about previously but there are also a number I have yet to mention so give those a listen as a bare minimum. These include tracks by The Angel Makers, Seeing Hands, The Catherines, Lasitud and Klass II amongst others. As ever click on the image to start. Enjoy! More playlists can be found here and the Playmoss page is here. Continue reading Aurora Lights – A Records I Like Playlist (March 2018 #2)

Astro Children – Beneath the Visible Surface

Astro Children’s last single Straight For My Heart was impressive enough but they manage to go one better on this single. The title track is, thanks to the synths, dreamy and hypnotic whilst flip side Nora Flood hitches a lift with a slow burning shoegazing wagon. Both sides are guaranteed to get your head nodding in appreciation. It’s due to be released on 7″ vinyl but in the meantime you can get it digitally from here. Desert Plants – A Records I Like Playlist (March 2018 #1)

Here is a brand new playlist for the first Monday of month featuring the usual fare of indiepop, janglepop, dreampoop and shoegaze. Some I have written about, some not. As ever click on the image to start… Enjoy! More playlists can be found here and the Playmoss page is here. Continue reading Desert Plants – A Records I Like Playlist (March 2018 #1)

Bearcats & Horrible/Adorable – Split

Bearcats deliver a catchy, sometimes sleazy (and with that title it could not be anything else) garage/riot grrrl crossover on Gutter Pussy which is worth every part of it’s 109 seconds. New to these ears are Horrible Adorable who give us a blend of rock n’ roll, surf pop and garage on Surf, Rock, Beach, Party, UFO which reminds me of the Fizzbombs around the time of their second single. Despite which side you prefer both tracks here are essential listening. Out now via Yr First Crush. Damascus – Painted Road

According to the label Painted Road is one of the best Indonesian rock and roll songs ever written. Given that I have not heard that much Indonesian rock and roll (feel free to recommend me some) I will have to take their word for it but to be fair it sets a pretty high benchmark. Dismantled normally release indiepop and there is nowt of that here. Instead you get a rousing affair with cranked up guitars and pounding drums with sleazy vocals to match. Is it me or does the singer sound like a young Phil Lynott (showing my age … Continue reading Damascus – Painted Road

Kosmonaut – Debbie Harry’s Smile (Remix)

Leading on from yesterday here is a second remix of Debbie Harry’s Smile this time by Voodoo Reay. Initially, because of the remixer’s name which I guess is a homage to A Guy Called Gerald, I thought this one was going to turn into a full on dance floor affair but it settled down with electronic beats running perfectly alongside the original vocals and structure. Not a bad remix to be fair! and here is the original: Get both tracks from here. Facebook Continue reading Kosmonaut – Debbie Harry’s Smile (Remix)

Kosmonaut – Debbie Harry’s Smile (California On Fire Mix)

Sadly blog faves Kosmonaut split up at the end of last year. Stephen from the band dropped me a line writing that “there is still a couple of loose ends to tie up though and this remix by The Luxembourg Signal is one of them. Before we split up our intentions were to release a cd single of Debbie Harry’s Smile and include a load of remixes by our friends, unfortunately that’s not going to happen and only a couple of remixes got finished.” So here is that Luxembourg Signal remix in it’s glory. I thought the original was good … Continue reading Kosmonaut – Debbie Harry’s Smile (California On Fire Mix)
