Kill The World by Essex based dreampoppers The Angel Makers is taken from a forthcoming but yet unnamed EP. It’s the follow up to the Blue EP that was released back in March which I can wholeheartedly recommend. Kill The World is a melodic but saddening track thanks to the mournful lyrics and sometimes gloomy vocals. Mind you the title should be a clue eh? Get it for nowt from here. So Long Serenade is the follow up January’s impressive Fall Into Place which was a teaser for this release and rightly starts the proceedings. There are five songs here and all are fine examples of well written crafted and melodic indiepop. The guitars are catchy and Rich May’s distinctive vocals, as ever, demand the listeners attention. Standout track for me is the driving and blistering Big Tomorrow which soon develops into a listening addiction. So Long Serenade is available digitally from here. I was pretty impressed with Why Bonnie’s last release from earlier this year. Thankfully nothing has changed when listening to their new song Stereo which is taken from their new EP Nightgown. It’s a slow burning alt rock track which carries on from where the In Water EP left off leaving the listener to restlessly anticipate what the rest of the EP will bring! Bed Head is the sound of The Cocteau Twins if they appeared in 1989 and had a debut EP on Creation. Throughout the EP shimmering guitars clash with ethereal vocals with most of the tracks building up, reaching a crescendo. The exception is closer Acid Braids which sounds like a Seefeel demo! Tired-al Wave is the second single to be taken from the forthcoming debut self titled album by Brisbane’s dreampop/shoegaze band Terra Pines. Rather than issue a second full on, all guitars blazing single (Kidult was the first) the band have released this slow burning atmospheric effort instead. The joint vocals work a treat alongside the dreamy and fuzzy guitars and you can see why they have selected it to close the album. Bliss… The album is out later this month on various formats. Two tracks that err on the nosier side of shoegazing that encompass everything you want in fuzzy pop songs.
